Your industrial vacuum pump is designed to work hard and last for years. But, eventually, even the most reliable vacuum pump will need to be replaced. You might not know what to look for and hat means you could wait too long to replace the pump. Unfortunately, any unexpected equipment malfunction can bring work to a standstill. Luckily, there are ways to tell when your industrial vacuum pump is about to fail you. Here are three signs to watch for. If you experience any of the signs described below, it's time to replace your industrial vacuum pump.

You Can't Hear Yourself Think

Industrial equipment is loud. Because of that, you can't expect to run a quiet shop. But, your vacuum pump shouldn't be so loud that you can't hear yourself think. If your vacuum pump has gotten so noisy that it's causing a disturbance, it's time to take a closer look. Most loud noises are caused by internal problems. Some of those problems include worn bearings, loose debris inside the pump, or worn bores. If your industrial vacuum pump has gotten noisier over time, call for an inspection right away. It might be time for a replacement.

There's a Problem With the Pressure

When it comes to your vacuum pump, proper pressure is essential. Pressure problems are sure signs that your pump needs to be replaced. If you think your industrial vacuum pump has a pressure problem, check two things; suction and horsepower. If your pump has lost suction power, there could be a problem with the valves or gaskets. If your pump has developed too much horsepower, there could be a problem with the belts. Either way, your pump may need to be replaced.

Your Pump is Vibrating

If your vacuum pump has developed an uncontrollable shimmy, it's time to take a closer look at the system. Excessive vibration is never a good sign where your vacuum pump is concerned. The first thing you want to do is determine whether your pump is experiencing constant vibration, or intermittent vibration. If your pump has developed an intermittent vibration, the motor may be about to fail. If your pump has developed a constant vibration, you could be dealing with gear failure or age-related failure.
